Exhaust Treatment
The specific properties of alloy foam make it the optimal material for exhaust gas after-treatment systems.
In diesel particulate filters (DPF), the filtration rate can be easily and economically designed to meet the specific requirements of the application by combining layers of varying porosity and using a variable number of layers of foam.
The turbulent flow and the large surface allow excellent particle separation efficiency at a low exhaust back-pressure. At the same time, the amount of costly precious metals in the alloy necessary for passive regeneration is reduced.
This property makes alloy foams from Alantum also the perfect solution for diesel oxidation catalysts (DOC) and three-way catalysts: Thanks to the improved catalytic activity of the system, less precious metal is required.
Another application for Alantum foam is the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx in the exhaust stream.
