Silencer
One application for alloy foam is noise reduction for vehicles and motorcycles.
In contrast to conventional absorbent materials such as mineral wool, steel wool or glass wool, the foam retains its shape even under the pressures occurring in the exhaust system. This gives the silencer a service life identical to that of the vehicle.
At the same time, noise attenuation of the foam material is considerably better than it is with conventional materials in the same volume. The foam also displays a low back-pressure in this application.
In addition, the sound pattern can be easily designed to the specific requests of the customer combining foam of differing pore sizes.
